Sodeshi is one of the Izumo region’s many traditional kilns.

The kiln mainly produces items for use in everyday life, and the ceramics are finished in warm, natural colours.

The staff are friendly and  welcoming, and the shop and kiln attracts many visitors, including those from overseas.

You can draw your own design on a cup or plate etc. before it is put in the kiln and create your very own original souvenir!

Fee: 1,050 yen. (The finished product is sent by post around a month later.)

Getting There: 15 minutes on foot from Matsue Station and 5 minutes from the Shimane Art Museum.

By bus: Take the south (minami) loop city bus from bus stop no. 1 at Matsue Station and get off at Sodeshi bus stop.
