Yasaka Shrine is located in Tsuwano Town in Western Shimane.
It is dedicated to Susano and is famous for its “Heron dance” ritual which is held annually on July 20th and 27th. The tradition started in 1542 as a ritual to repel illness and bad health, and has continued ever since.
In the temple grounds is a 540 year old sacred zelkova tree. The tree is a designated Natural Monument, and is 25 metres high and is 4 metres wide.
Getting There: The road from the station meets with the main street Tonomachi. At the crossroad you should see the shrine torii gate. It is located just near the approach to Taikodani Inari Shrine.
