Matsue English Garden is located on the shores of Lake Shinji, and boasts over 500 species of plants. It was constructed in the traditional style of an English garden, and its full-time gardeners work throughout the year to maintain its beauty. The garden and neighbouring building has festivals, concerts and other events throughout the year.
Opening Times: Apr-Sep: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Oct – Feb: 9:00am – 4:30pm (Last entrance is 30 mins before closing time.) Closed: Dec 29th – Jan 3rd Admission: Free
Access: Take the Ichibata Railway from Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station to Matsue English Garden Station. (210 yen). It is a 3 minute walk from the station.
The station is unmanned, so when you return, take a numbered ticket from the machine next to the door inside the train, and then pay at your destination. A one-day pass for the Ichibata Railway is 1,500 yen.
