Momen Kaido

Momen Kaido (Cotton Road) is located in Hirata, and is an old merchants’ quarter. Many sake distilleries and soy sauce makers that were established in the Edo Period remain, and many continue to work in the original buildings. The area was famous for its cotton, which, along with other products, was transported out to Osaka and Kyoto from the river that runs through the area.

The area also holds festivals, flea markets and concerts in some of the old buildings and galleries throughout the year.
Access: Take the Ichibata Railway from Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station to Unshu Hirata Station. (40 mins).

From there it is around a 10 minute walk.
