Zenzai is a traditional Japanese dessert. It is basically rice cake in a sweet bean soup, however at Nihon Zenzai Gakkai they serve other flavours such as coffee and green tea. The tradition of eating zenzai is said to have begun in  the Izumo region of Shimane, and was once considered a sacred dish. The staff at Nihon Zenzai Gakkai are very welcoming, and they have an English menu!

Getting There: Take the bus bound for Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station from bus stop no. 3 at Matsue Station. Get off at Ohashi Bridge north (ohashi-kitazume). Turn left along the river, then take the first left. It is just further down the street on the right in Kyomise.
