Shimane Art Museum was opened in 1999 with the idea of combining water and art. It is located on the shores of Lake Shinji and is a great place from which to see the sunset. The museum has a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, and displays works from Japan and overseas.

Opening Times: 10:00am – 6:30pm. Closing days: Tuesdays.

Getting There: Turn left out of the north exit of Matsue Station and keep going following the railway line. Eventually you will come to the lake and you really can’t miss it! (Or get the lakeline bus from bus stop no. 7 at Matsue Station and get of a kenritsu-bijutsukan-mae. )
